Kreuzkirche Church

The present church was built in the late Baroque and early Classicistic style between 1764 and 1800. It is the home of the Kreuzchor boys' choir, whose tradition reaches back more than 700 years.
Another reminder of the great part Dresden played in music history is the sandstone relief in the Wedding Chapel bearing a portrait of Heinrich Schütz. Called the "Father of German Music", he was Hofkapellmeister (Court Music Director) in Dresden for 55 years. From the tower you have a fantastic view over the roofs of the Old Town the Elbe Valley.
