Regarding the online program of the International Weeks against Racism 2021

Dear residents of Dresden,

The "International Weeks against Racism" are nationwide weeks of action for solidarity with the victims and support the opponents of racism and discrimination. Unfortunately, racial discrimination, xenophobia, contempt for human beings and violence do not take a break even in times of the pandemic. In spite of some restrictions, this demands us again this year according to the motto "Bringing racism to language-acting in solidarity!" to get active. I invite all residents of Dresden to take part in the International Weeks against Racism from March 15 to April 6, 2021.

Numerous committed people from associations, initiatives, youth and educational institutions and networks offer a diverse program this year, despite difficult conditions.Online formats, workshops and panel discussions, but also walks, address the most diverse forms of racism. All these program components deal with everyday stereotypes and prejudices that occur in different areas of life and open up opportunities for action for equal coexistence in a democratic and diverse society.

The memory of Jorge Gomondai, whose racially motivated murder will be 30 years old in 2021, reminds us of the consequences of misanthropy and hatred and urges us to make our coexistence tolerant and non-violent.

Take part in the various campaigns and let us set an example for respect and human dignity. I would like to thank all those involved for their commitment!
