Vocational Further Training

The purpose of vocational further training is to obtain a further qualification after the completion of training. Vocational further training differs in length and is provided in various forms. If you have taken a relatively long period of time off from a career, for example because you have looked after children at home, the Federal Employment Agency will provide you with advice helping you back onto your career path. Furthermore, the Employment Agency and the Jobcenter Dresden have a representative for equal opportunities on the labour market. If you are returning to your career and need help finding a job, or you are being discriminated against and disadvantaged, this representative can help.

Further training programmes in Dresden

The education programmes and advice services offered in Dresden are extensive and diverse. From here you have direct access to the programmes and services offered in Dresden within the database "„KURSNET“ of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit relating to career guidance, training, further training and language courses.

On behalf of the City of Dresden, the employees of the municipal Education Advice Service for Adults at the Dresden Adult Education Centre provide free and neutral advice on all aspects of education and careers.

In this respect, individual advice relates to the most varied matters such as career orientation or re-orientation, choice of courses of study, vocational further training, catching up on school-leaving qualifications, re-entering the labour market following unemployment and/or a family phase, funding options, leisure programmes or community involvement.

The employees of the Education Advice Service will help you to form your own career path, look at (new) career perspectives, plan your re-entry into your career or explore suitable education programmes offered. In this respect, the advice is neutral and free and is based on your skills, goals and ideas. It is intended to help you to keep track of the diverse options and make use of these. Education advice is offered in Dresden as a citywide service at the locations of the Dresden Adult Education Centre and as an on-site service in the city districts of Johannstadt and Friedrichstadt. Appointments can be arranged via the education hotline at (0351) 4 88 84 84 (sometimes an answering machine) or by writing an email to beratung@bildungsbahnen.de.

Education advice online

As of now, you can obtain online advice via a contact form on the Dresden Education Advice Service's website. The advice is free of charge. You only need to give an email address as a contact. It is not mandatory to provide a name. The data protection regulations will, of course, be complied with.

In the case of email enquiries, the employees endeavour to answer the enquiry within 5 working days. It is also possible to repeatedly make enquiries. In the case of difficult issues following an initial contact via email, it may help to arrange a personal appointment. This will be decided on together with the adviser.
