This museum owes its world renown to the outstanding quality of its paintings. Among the primary focuses are Italian paintings of the Renaissance and works in Baroque style. Equally significant are the collections of Dutch and Flemish paintings and of paintings by Spanish, French and German artists of the 16th to 18th centuries.
