More than 1,000 valuable objects dating from three centuries are on display, including the ‘Court of the Great Mogul Aurangzeb’ boasting 4,909 diamonds, 160 rubies, 164 emeralds, 1 sapphire, 16 pearls and 2 cameos. The presentation in perfectly lit non-reflective glass cases allows visitors to examine the treasures at close quarters—and the infinite wealth of detail to cast its magic spell. You can also marvel at a tiny object that has meanwhile achieved crowd-puller status: the cherry pit with ‘185 countenances’, a masterpiece of micro-carving.
