Tasks

• Representing the interests of migrants living in Dresden to the City Council and the Mayor. 
• Improving the living conditions of migrants. 
• Promoting the peacefully coexistence of all people in Dresden. 
• Collaborating with the City Council and the Mayor to conduct public relations activities on topics related to migration and integration, diversity, democracy, respect, reducing manifestations of group-based hostility, and fostering solidarity among all residents of Dresden. 
• Strengthening the political participation of migrants by contributing to decision-making and involvement, and advocating for the formation of public opinion on local voting rights for all migrants, particularly for third-country nationals. 
• Collaborating with associations and initiatives dedicated to the integration of migrants, as well as the promotion of diversity, democracy, the reduction of group-based hostility, and fostering a cooperative coexistence, and providing them with support.

Areas of Focus

The Integration and Foreigner Advisory Council deals with a variety of topics concerning migrants living in Dresden. These include

• Political advocacy to reduce discrimination and unequal treatment of migrants living in Dresden.
• Ensuring good accommodation and societal participation of asylum seekers.
• Enhancing the visibility and authority of the Integration and Foreigner Advisory Council, as well as networking on regional and national levels.
• Safeguarding the interests of foreign students, scholars, and researchers.
• Collaboration with and support for migrant associations, organizations, and groups.
• Promoting the acquisition of mother languages and facilitating mother language instruction and multilingualism.
• Supporting cultural and social activities within migrant communities.
• Facilitating communication between government offices, authorities, residents with or without migration backgrounds.
