For no other reason does the former Saxon residence and today's state capital Dresden invite you to a splendid party and a glittering festive year. Be welcome and celebrate with us!

A princely wedding without equals

Elector Augustus the Strong had great plans for his son. So he threw the biggest wedding party for him far and wide. The 40 legendary days of 1719 began and guests from all over the world celebrated in Dresden.

September 2019 marks the 300th anniversary of one of the most important festivals of the entire epoch: the centenary of the son of Augustus the Strong, Friedrich August II, with Maria Josepha of Austria in 1719. Highlights were the planet festivals and events at numerous locations in Dresden. The Zwinger palace was officially inaugurated as a VIP party location on the occasion of the wedding. Augustus the Strong gave his music-loving son a new opera house at the Zwinger - the opening premiere was an integral part of the wedding festivities.

Now this baroque event can be experienced once again!
