Registerd Association of Contact Group “Asylum”
About us
We, the members of Kontaktgruppe Asyl e. V. (Contact Group “Asylum”) help asylum seekers and immigrants that come to Dresden in passing the many bureaucratic hurdles, in creating contacts, and in finding possibilities for meeting others. With respect we can tie the strengths and potential of these people and be available for them as independent contact persons. We are publicly committed to the fight against repressive structures and racial prejudice, and stand for solidarity and a colourful society.
Our services
A group of sports enthusiasts, including asylum seekers, boys and girls from Kontaktgruppe Asyl (contact group “Asylum”) and other players meet on a weekly basis both spontaneously as well as at a regular Sunday meeting. The group meets mainly to play football together, but often enjoy interesting conversations and exchanges of private and institutional nature after the game. We are happy that this offer has been so well accepted and is well visited. You could even say that true “team spirit” has emerged. The players know each-other, ask about each-other and learn (sports) from each-other.
We speak German, English, French, and many other languages, depending on who participates at the events. We have never experienced communication difficulties.

Dresden Regional Association – Creative Centre “Omnibus” (Cooperation with Eastern Europe)
About us
We are a non-profit association behind the multi-generation house Kreativzentrum Omnibus (Creative Centre “Omnibus”) in Dresden’s city district Friedrichstadt. Under this roof, many projects are carried out; via art, culture and creativity much can be contributed to the understanding between nations. The association grew out of a 1971 initiative of the former Central and East Germans in the Federal Republic of Germany. The ZMO - Regionalverbandes Dresden e. V. was founded thanks to an initiative of a group of Russian Germans from Dresden. Its members came from various countries of the former Soviet Union and other Eastern European countries.
Our services
Circus “Harlekin” for children (Kinderzirkus Harlekin)
The circus was founded in 2006 and is part of local youth work. Currently the group is made of around 20 local children and adolescents (aged five to 23) with immigration background or from mixed families (Russian native speakers). They are taught on voluntary basis by parents, grandparents and helpers at the ZMO-Regionalverband Dresden e. V. The children learn how to work in a circus, focusing on acrobatics, endurance, team spirit and sense of responsibility in the intergenerational cooperation. In addition to performances in the creative centre, the circus also performs elsewhere in the city on the stages of various city festivals, such as intercultural days (Interkulturelle Tage), church events or the Dresden City Festival (Dresdner Stadtfest).
Walking club “IGW – Integration and Health through Walking” (Wanderclub IGW “Integration und Gesundheit durch Wandern”)
The task of the walking club is to introduce new inhabitants of Dresden to the natural, historical and cultural sights of Saxony, Germany and the neighbouring European countries. This is done keeping in mind the aim of providing better integration possibilities as well as the aim of improving the health of the participants. The club has been active since July 2008. In this time around 2000 migrants have participated in the walks and bicycle tours organised by the club to the Saxon Switzerland, the Surroundings of Dresden and in longer trips to neighbouring regions. Trips to the Saxon Switzerland take place every Saturday.
We speak Russian and German.

Registered Association for Cooperation with Eastern European Youth
About us
ZMO-Jugend e. V. (Cooperation with Eastern European Youth) is an officially approved non-profit organisation active in providing free youth welfare and aid services. The main objective of our work is to support young people with immigration background in their social and cultural integration and to promote and maintain their cultural heritage. Also, to enhance intercultural understanding. Our services are available both for migrants as well as for local children and youngsters. The work of our organisation with children and youngsters is diverse and it includes consulting, work with groups, open and thematic course offers, projects and single events.
Our services
When designing our sports programmes, we build on the needs and wishes of youngsters. Since language is not in the focus of sporting activities, youngsters with a migration background play well together with locals. Sport can make a decisive difference in combating prejudices and xenophobia and facilitating the integration process. Through our projects, youngsters can build new contacts, gain experience in working together and feeling solidarity and responsibility. For that, the youngsters can take over as trainer.
Our current teams are: a football team for refugees, a weight training team, a belly dancing group for young women, and a table tennis group for seniors.
