Welcome party for the President!

Dresden will be celebrating on Thursday, 4 June from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday, 5 June from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At the Altmarkt, local people and the city's many visitors will be met with a dazzling cultural programme and on-stage events including cheerleaders, interviews, music dance and classic American rodeo bull riding.

Thursday evening will see a party featuring the Thomas Stelzer Trio, the »Blue Pearls« cheerleaders, the »Jazz Banausen« group, a rock 'n' roll orchestra and a variety of dance groups.
On Friday the pace will be more leisurely with »The Harlem Soul and Gospel«, the Dresden choir »Gospel Passengers« and the »Blue Moon« dance orchestra.

On both days the show will be hosted by Dresden's NTV presenter Holger Scholze, who will also be talking about Obama and the USA with interviewees from the worlds of sport, culture and science.

On top of all this there will be live coverage of all events during Barack Obama's visit to Dresden on a giant 40-metre LED screen. This will be next to the 15x10-metre stage in front of the Kreuzkirche.

To the left and the right, stands will be selling German and American specialities. The stage and stands will be decorated to suit the occasion.

Visitors are requested to use public transport. The tram stops at the Altmarkt will be operating as usual.
