Being the host of the unique visit, the Saxon government is working on the preparation in close collaboration with the German government.

In the Department of the Interior, special staff has been employed to plan the security measures. The staff holds connection to the German federation and is also authorized to request for police squads of other federal states.

City of Dresden

Police

Special staff is planning the extensive safety measures that will be necessary before and during Obama's stay. More than 4.000 policemen will be deployed in the operation »Canaletto 2009«.

Residents and shop owners have been informed about the contraints for security reasons.
The police has set up a contact center in order to answer questions via phone and e-mail.
