Dr. Bettina Bunge was appointed managing director of the newly founded Dresden Marketing GmbH on 1st July 2009. She had previously worked successfully on behalf of one of Dresden's twin cities for five years, namely as head of the marketing department at Hamburg Tourismus GmbH. Contacts to Dresden were already established much earlier. Hamburg and Dresden are both members of the marketing alliance "Magic Cities Germany", in which ten major German cities coordinate their overseas marketing activities. Dr. Bunge is a member of the board and actively chairs the marketing committee. Even before her time in Hamburg, as head of worldwide sales management at the German National Tourist Board in Frankfurt, she not only sought contact to Dresden and Saxony, but indeed developed an extensive network across the whole international tourism branch.

Preceding appointments with the national ticket service of Qivive GmbH (formerly Start Ticket GmbH)  and with Deutsche Lufthansa AG laid the foundations for long-standing experience in marketing strategy and brand management.

In 1996, she took on management of the Prof. Bruhn Marketingakademie GmbH in Oestrich-Winkel. Prior to this, she had been research assistant to Prof. Manfred Bruhn at the Chair of General Business Management with Particular Emphasis on Marketing and Trade of the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, where she completed a doctoral thesis on "Service quality and customer satisfaction for banks and financial institutions". From 1986 to 1991, she studied business economics at the University of Münster, graduating with the degree of "Diplom-Kauffrau". Born in Lüneburg in 1967, she attended school in Berlin and Wiesbaden.

Bettina Bunge speaks English, French and Italian, and names the exploration of foreign cultures, horses, literature and Asian cuisine among her private interests. She is single and recently moved into a new home in Dresden-Striesen.
