Leisure Time

Not only is Dresden’s historic Old Town worth visiting, but the city also offers a wide variety of recreational activities. The section titled »Dresden for…« has a range of options that can be tailored according to your personal preferences.

In recent years, Dresden has developed into a real shopping mecca. The shopping mile begins right at the central train station and leads to the Neustadt Quarter without any interruptions. Large shopping centers like the Centrum Gallery and the Altmarkt Gallery, along with various boutiques, offer an interesting mixture of stores.

The restaurants are just as diverse as the shopping opportunities – from traditional pubs to the festive Ballhaus (ballroom dance hall), from cozy beer gardens to refined gourmet temples, there’s something here for everyone.

Since Saxony's capital is one of the greenest cities in Europe, it is not surprising that sports play an important role in the city's life. Cycle tours along the Elbe River, skating in the Great Garden and various climbing structures in the summer, along with ice skating in the Freiberger Arena in the winter, attract more than just hard-core sports enthusiasts.

Whether you are a family with small children, a group of seniors or young people, we're sure Dresden has the right offering for your interests.
