Dresden for Young People:
Relaxation, Leisure Time, Alternative Culture

Dresden young

Dresden has much to offer to its young visitors.  Lots of space for open air activities, fascinating exhibitions where you can touch and try the exhibits, city rallies and more will guarantee exciting holidays - with your class, family or friends.

Hostels

Dresden's hostels offer low budget accommodation

Fun at the Elbe River

The Elbe meadows are a popular meeting point as soon as it gets warm for playing outdoor games, making music, talking or just relaxing.

Beach bars such as the „Puro Beach" and the „City Beach" attract their guests with tropical atmosphere. The open air bar „Elbsegler" next to Augustusbrücke is shaped like a ship and makes you feel you are sailing away.

Germany's probably most beautiful open air cinema is situated at the Elbe banks, too. The stunning view of Dresden's night-time scenery makes it difficult to concentrate on the movie screen.

The Elbe Cycle track leads right through the Elbe meadows and is loved by cyclists and inline skaters.

Skatepark Dresden

The Skatepark (9200 sqm) at Lingnerallee challenges professionals as well as beginners on the skate arena, roller hockey court, half pipe and the practice course.

Night skating

Every Thursday night (new from 2009) at 9 p.m. from April to October, thousands of inline skaters start for a tour through the streets of Dresden (approximately 20 km). The night skating routes alternate: on some evenings, the skaters roll through the historical Old City, passing the baroque scenery. On other nights, the tour leads through the Jugendstil quarter or over the Elbe River through the Neustadt.

Swimming pools

For those who love swimming, Dresden's swimming pools will be just the right thing.

Großer Garten - the green oasis in the middle of Dresden

The Großer Garten is Dresden's biggest park and a great place for relaxation, inline skating or meeting in beer gardens.

Parties and clubbing in Dresdens

Revellers and night owls can party in numerous discos, clubs and bars until early in the morning.

Theatre and opera

Dresden is known as a city of arts and culture throughout Europe. A visit of the Semperoper forms a special highlight for many guests during their stay.

Besides classic high culture, Dresden's stages experimental theatre and modern productions with topics that are also interesting for adolescents.

A broad variety of museums

Good bye, boredom! Go on a trip back into medieval times in the casemates, visit the Green Vault – the treasury of the kings, the Hygiene-Museum – a sensuous exhibition about the human being, the Erich Kästner museum - the world’s first interactive mobile micromuseum or the experimental area of the Technische Sammlungen (Museum of Technology).

Guided city tours and walks

There are several ways to experience Dresden: on a city tour by bus or by steam boat, actively on a bike or on a tricky city rally.
