From Dresden to Pillnitz Palace

Tour through Dresden to Pillnitz Palace, the former summer residence of the Saxonian court, and a one-hour guided walk of the palace grounds before returning to Dresden.

Classic Dresden– city tour and sightseeing

Provides a comprehensive impression of Dresden and an introduction to some of the city's most beautiful areas: downtown, the Hygiene Museum, VW Transparent Factory, the three Elbe Palaces, the district of Blasewitz, home to stately villas, and Neustadt with its baroque bourgeois and Wilhelminian-era neighbourhoods. The tour concludes with a guided walk through the Historic Old Town and the late baroque Zwinger court (outside views only).

Historic Dresden by foot

  • Duration: 2 hours

Guided tour from Theaterplatz and the Zwinger, past the cathedral, the Procession of Princes and the Frauenkirche to Brühl's Terrace, the "balcony of Dresden" (outside views only).

Dresden by bus

  • Duration: 2 hours

The tour begins right in the city centre and winds its way past the Great Garden with VW's Transparent Factory, then continues along the Elbe past the three Elbe Palaces and the villas of Blasewitz before crossing into Dresden's Neustadt district over Augustus Bridge offering a gorgeous view of the city's famous skyline. Returning to the Historic Old Town, the tour concludes with a short walk through Zwinger court.

You've never seen Dresden like this! Distinctly different from any other city tour, the video bus tour presents historical film, photographic and audio highlights on multiple monitors in plush tour buses along with knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide commentary. A sightseeing trip back through time bringing to life world-renowned artists, vital places of scientific interest and upstanding citizens faced with grueling times and celebrating the ultimate redevelopment of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Guided museum tour and sightseeing walk through Historic Old Town

Guided tour through one of the Dresden State Art Collections museums combined with a walk through the Historic Old Town. Museum options include the Old Masters Picture Gallery, its world fame based on an outstanding selection of incomparable masterpieces, the Zwinger Porcelain Collection, the most extensive and significant exhibition of its kind in the world, the dazzling New Green Vault at the Royal Palace with over 1,000 unique exhibits of royal treasure, or the Albertinum, presenting collected art from the Romantic period through to the present day.

Frauenkirche tour

Likely Dresden's most famous landmark, the Frauenkirche rises up again in all its majestic glory against the city's skyline, today a symbol of peace and understanding between nations. We would be happy to arrange the following fee-based attractions and events for you (subject to availability):

  • Film presentation in the Frauenkirche visitor centre followed by church visit

New Green Vault tour

  • Duration: 1 hour (closed Tuesdays)

As one of the richest treasure troves in Europe, the Green Vault enjoys a world-wide reputation. The New Green Vault on the second floor of the Royal Palace dazzles with approximately 1,000 exhibits from the Renaissance to Classicism. The tour covers ten separate rooms filled with a wealth of the collection's major artwork, among them the Golden Coffee Service, the Royal Household of the Grand Mogul, the valuable hat ornament with the Dresden Green Diamond and the Cherry Stone with 185 Carved Faces. New display technology allows visitors to now get much closer to all the treasures while the tour itself provides a bounty of fascinating information on the exhibits and how they came to be.

Historic Green Vault

Audio guide tour: Historic Green Vault

The Historic Green Vault is located amidst the historical areas on the ground floor of the Royal Palace. Approximately 3,000 masterpieces of jewelry making and goldsmithing along with prized objects made of amber and ivory and gemstone-studded vessels are openly presented in a breathtaking Baroque synthesis of the arts. Visitors are required to purchase their time-limited tickets in advance and enter the "open vault" through an air-locked security entrance.

Semper Opera House tour

  • Duration: 45 minutes

Originally built by Gottfried Semper, the Semper Opera House ranks among the most beautiful opera houses in Europe, its grandiose architecture and star-studded concert, opera and ballet performances drawing visitors from all around the world. Tours are offered before evening performances (as well as other times) and give visitors an incomparable grasp of the history as well as the present-day allure of this unique opera house.

The Porcelain City of Meissen

  • Duration: 5 hours

Over the course of its 1,000+ year history, Meissen has become world-famous for its unparalleled porcelain which has been manufactured right here since 1710. The first stop of the day is the Meissen porcelain factory to view production of these "white gold" masterpieces and see some of the most beautiful pieces from the past and present. A sightseeing tour of the historic old part of Meissen follows including a climb up Burgberg to Albrechtsburg, Germany's oldest residential palace. Round trip to and from Dresden is included.

Moritzburg Moated Castle

  • Duration: 4 hours

The baroque hunting château of Moritzburg is known as being one of Europe's most beautiful moated castles. Tours include the hunting trophy collection, priceless leather wallpapers, hunting gear and the many luxurious furnishings. Continue afterwards with a walk to Fasanenschlösschen with its 18th century jetty and lighthouse built solely for staging sea battles (4 hours). Moritzburg tours also have the optional extra of riding one of Germany's oldest narrow-gauge railways (add 1 hour travel time).

Elbe Sandstones

  • Duration: 5 hours

First stop of the day is Pillnitz. After exploring the grounds of the former summer residence of the Saxon court, the tour continues through Lohmen on to Saxon Switzerland National Park to the most beautiful overlook within Europe, the Bastei. At this point, visitors can choose to take the Bastei Bridge to visit the rock formation or drive a bit further to Festung Königstein for a tour of Germany's largest hilltop fortress and a unique panoramic view to the impressive summits of Saxon Switzerland before returning to Dresden.

Tip: The return trip can also be made by paddle steamer.

Erzgebirge - The Christmas Wonderland

This tour makes its first stop in Freiberg, Germany's first free mining town, its silver the source of the staggering wealth of the Saxonian rulers. The city's extensive renovation becomes obvious as the tour winds through the historic old part of town and visits the Cathedral of St. Mary with its world-famous Golden Gate, Tulip pulpit and Silbermann organ (performances can be included by prior arrangement).

Then it's on to Seiffen, the so-called "toy village" and the centre of traditional Erzgebirge folk art. Watch wooden holiday treasures being created at a demonstration workshop including nutcrackers, smokers (incense figures), candle arches and Christmas pyramids before returning to Dresden.

Lusatia, Land of the Sorbs

The first stop on this tour is historic Bautzen for a guided tour of the medieval town centre preserved in its original state. Then it's on to the Polish border and the ancient trading centre of Görlitz, filled with an astonishing wealth of architectural heritage spanning five centuries - back to the 15th century.

Wackerbarth Castle– Europe's first-ever "vineyard experience"

Radeberger Export Beer Brewery

The beer town of Radeberg, just 15 km from Dresden, is home to one of Germany's most modern breweries, the first in the country to brew Pilsner beer - a proud tradition continuing to the present day.

Augustus Rex – Erste Dresdner Spezialitätenbrennerei (Distillery Tour)

According to city archives, Dresden was home to roughly 113 distilleries in 1900. "Augustus Rex" is now the only distillery in Dresden to continue the tradition, drawing on the rich bounty of the area's orchards to produce more than 80 exclusive distillates and liqueurs (including organic) from long-forgotten varieties of fruit - and in a quality that never fails to win top awards.
