Tour through Dresden to Pillnitz Palace, the former summer residence of the Saxonian court, and a one-hour guided walk of the palace grounds before returning to Dresden.
Classic Dresden– city tour and sightseeing

Provides a comprehensive impression of Dresden and an introduction to some of the city's most beautiful areas: downtown, the Hygiene Museum, VW Transparent Factory, the three Elbe Palaces, the district of Blasewitz, home to stately villas, and Neustadt with its baroque bourgeois and Wilhelminian-era neighbourhoods. Dresden by bus

The tour begins right in the city centre and winds its way past the Great Garden with VW's Transparent Factory, then continues along the Elbe past the three Elbe Palaces and the villas of Blasewitz before crossing into Dresden's Neustadt district over Augustus Bridge offering a gorgeous view of the city's famous skyline. Returning to the Historic Old Town, the tour concludes with a short walk through Zwinger court.

Guided tour through one of the Dresden State Art Collections museums combined with a walk through the Historic Old Town. Museum options include the Old Masters Picture Gallery, its world fame based on an outstanding selection of incomparable masterpieces, the Zwinger Porcelain Collection, the most extensive and significant exhibition of its kind in the world, the dazzling New Green Vault at the Royal Palace with over 1,000 unique exhibits of royal treasure, or the Albertinum, presenting collected art from the Romantic period through to the present day.
Frauenkirche tour

New Green Vault tour

As one of the richest treasure troves in Europe, the Green Vault enjoys a world-wide reputation. The New Green Vault on the second floor of the Royal Palace dazzles with approximately 1,000 exhibits from the Renaissance to Classicism. The tour covers ten separate rooms filled with a wealth of the collection's major artwork, among them the Golden Coffee Service, the Royal Household of the Grand Mogul, the valuable hat ornament with the Dresden Green Diamond and the Cherry Stone with 185 Carved Faces. New display technology allows visitors to now get much closer to all the treasures while the tour itself provides a bounty of fascinating information on the exhibits and how they came to be.

Audio guide tour: Historic Green Vault

The Historic Green Vault is located amidst the historical areas on the ground floor of the Royal Palace. Approximately 3,000 masterpieces of jewelry making and goldsmithing along with prized objects made of amber and ivory and gemstone-studded vessels are openly presented in a breathtaking Baroque synthesis of the arts. Visitors are required to purchase their time-limited tickets in advance and enter the "open vault" through an air-locked security entrance.
Semper Opera House tour

Originally built by Gottfried Semper, the Semper Opera House ranks among the most beautiful opera houses in Europe, its grandiose architecture and star-studded concert, opera and ballet performances drawing visitors from all around the world. The Porcelain City of Meissen
- Duration: 5 hours
Over the course of its 1,000+ year history, Meissen has become world-famous for its unparalleled porcelain which has been manufactured right here since 1710. The first stop of the day is the Meissen porcelain factory to view production of these "white gold" masterpieces and see some of the most beautiful pieces from the past and present. A sightseeing tour of the historic old part of Meissen follows including a climb up Burgberg to Albrechtsburg, Germany's oldest residential palace. Round trip to and from Dresden is included.
Moritzburg Moated Castle
- Duration: 4 hours
The baroque hunting château of Moritzburg is known as being one of Europe's most beautiful moated castles. Tours include the hunting trophy collection, priceless leather wallpapers, hunting gear and the many luxurious furnishings. Continue afterwards with a walk to Fasanenschlösschen with its 18th century jetty and lighthouse built solely for staging sea battles (4 hours). Moritzburg tours also have the optional extra of riding one of Germany's oldest narrow-gauge railways (add 1 hour travel time).
Elbe Sandstones
- Duration: 5 hours
First stop of the day is Pillnitz. After exploring the grounds of the former summer residence of the Saxon court, the tour continues through Lohmen on to Saxon Switzerland National Park to the most beautiful overlook within Europe, the Bastei. At this point, visitors can choose to take the Bastei Bridge to visit the rock formation or drive a bit further to Festung Königstein for a tour of Germany's largest hilltop fortress and a unique panoramic view to the impressive summits of Saxon Switzerland before returning to Dresden.
Tip: The return trip can also be made by paddle steamer.
Erzgebirge - The Christmas Wonderland
- Duration: 8 hours
This tour makes its first stop in Freiberg, Germany's first free mining town, its silver the source of the staggering wealth of the Saxonian rulers. The city's extensive renovation becomes obvious as the tour winds through the historic old part of town and visits the Cathedral of St. Mary with its world-famous Golden Gate, Tulip pulpit and Silbermann organ (performances can be included by prior arrangement).
Then it's on to Seiffen, the so-called "toy village" and the centre of traditional Erzgebirge folk art. Watch wooden holiday treasures being created at a demonstration workshop including nutcrackers, smokers (incense figures), candle arches and Christmas pyramids before returning to Dresden.
Lusatia, Land of the Sorbs
- Duration: 8 hours
The first stop on this tour is historic Bautzen for a guided tour of the medieval town centre preserved in its original state. Then it's on to the Polish border and the ancient trading centre of Görlitz, filled with an astonishing wealth of architectural heritage spanning five centuries - back to the 15th century.
Tip for the outgoing or return trip: Side trips to visit Herrnhut, the brethren centre of the Moravian Church, or the Marienstern Abbey of the Cistercian order.

Dragon Boat Festival

Experience a Chinese tradition on the Elbe. Face off in teams of 18 paddlers and a drummer vying for the cup. Strength alone does not win this race, team synchronisation and spirit are just as important. The drum pounds out a rhythmic beat for the paddlers' strokes while a sportscaster provides encouragement.

University of Technology campus tour
The themed itinerary incorporates the history of the university's growth as well as background facts on how the various institute buildings on campus came to be named. Renowned scientists, inventions and inventors are central themes. The tour spans the 19th to the 21st century and includes buildings on Münchener Platz, the law school, the Bayer Bau and the state and university library (SLUB) as well as the new cafeteria and the new buildings on Zelleschen Weg housing the biology department.
Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology (FEP)
- Duration: approx. 90 minutes, max. 20 visitors; other options available upon prior arrangement
The Fraunhofer FEP in Dresden develops technologies and structural components for coating and processing surfaces and small objects and then tests these technologies and procedures on an industrial scale in pilot facilities. That which is developed here goes on to be used in medical technology, mechanical engineering, photovoltaics and packaging industries. The tour provides an introduction to the institute's core technologies, pilot facilities and established applications. Guided tours require advance registration.
Volkswagen Transparent Factory
Volkswagen manufactures its full-size luxury sedan, the Phaeton, in the company's Transparent Factory where visitors enjoy a unique combination of working production plant and interactive discovery of automobile manufacturing. Tours are offered in 10 languages and include special architectural and children's tours. Visits must be booked in advance.
Dresden Porcelain – Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden

Founded in 1872, the factory is committed to the time-honoured tradition of European porcelain art. A small group of highly dedicated craftsman continue to produce delicate porcelain items completely by hand. Connoisseurs know the true rarity of these delicate items with the blue "SP Dresden" marking on their base. Weingut Schloss Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe
The sprawling vineyards of the oldest private winery in eastern Germany stretch out on the hill facing the Albrechtsburg Castle in Meissen. In 1996, Schloss Proschwitz became the very first Saxon winery to be accepted into the prestigious Association of German Quality and Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP).
Visitors can observe the diligence that goes into creating premium wines in the faithfully restored winery courtyard in Zadel as well as enjoy cellar tours and wine tastings. The winery-owned restaurant serves fresh regional delicacies and a choice selection of Saxon wines. Guided tours of Proschwitz Castle provide insights into the restoration and preservation of the Baroque complex and its winery.

Wackerbarth Castle– Europe's first-ever "vineyard experience"

Located right next door to the manufactory, the Museum of MEISSEN® Art is the only collection of its kind in the world to give visitors the full history of the design of MEISSEN Porcelain® from its earliest beginnings through to the present day. Demonstration workshops have been set up to present the principal stages of production: moulding and throwing, the fitting together of figures (embossing) and both underglaze and overglaze decoration.

Drawing on a rich heritage, "A. Lange & Söhne" is known as one of the most exclusive precision watchmakers in the world. With the opening of the company's first boutique in Dresden's Neumarkt area in 2007, A. Lange & Söhne has now come full circle - back to its original roots where Adolph Lange once had a shop before founding his own watch factory in Glashütte.

Directly across from the Frauenkirche, the company's only showroom in Germany is not simply a dazzling display of precision-crafted wristwatches designed and created largely by hand in Glashütte but above all a dignified showcasing of the A. Lange & Söhne name and splendor amidst its original Dresden ambience.

The "Glashütte" name has been synonymous with fine watchmaking, German precision and functional design for more than 165 years. From the tiniest screw to the most intricate clockwork, Glashütte Original timepieces are made right here, mostly by hand. Visitors are introduced to the mesmerising intricacies and art of producing famous Glashütte Originals on a special educational tour by means of large glass observation windows, display cabinets and video presentations.

Glashütte German Watch Museum
Under the motto "The Fascination with Time -Experiencing Time" the museum not only presents the long tradition of mechanical watchmaking but also creates strong emotional ties to the phenomenon of time. More than 400 unique exhibits with multimedia features span two floors: Glashütte pocket and wristwatches through the years, marine chronometers, astronomical objects, historical documents, tools and much more are all on display in aesthetic and inspired surroundings.

Radeberger Export Beer Brewery
The beer town of Radeberg, just 15 km from Dresden, is home to one of Germany's most modern breweries, the first in the country to brew Pilsner beer - a proud tradition continuing to the present day.

Tours allow visitors to personally experience how the popular Radeberger Pilsner is produced - from brewhouse to bottling - and sample some of the final product, a Radeberger Pilsner as well as a Radeberger Zwickelbier (unfiltered Pilsner). Not only do visitors learn a lot about beer in general and Radeberger Pilsner in particular, each visitor also receives a souvenir to remember their visit.

Augustus Rex – Erste Dresdner Spezialitätenbrennerei (Distillery Tour)
According to city archives, Dresden was home to roughly 113 distilleries in 1900. "Augustus Rex" is now the only distillery in Dresden to continue the tradition, drawing on the rich bounty of the area's orchards to produce more than 80 exclusive distillates and liqueurs (including organic) from long-forgotten varieties of fruit - and in a quality that never fails to win top awards.
