Prof. PhDr. Jana Geršlová

Prof. PhDr. Jana Geršlová, CSc. wurde 1955 geboren. Sie beendete 1979 Ihr Studium der Geschichte und Germanistik an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Palacký-Universität Olmütz (Olomouc) und arbeitete bis 1990 an der Tscheschoslowakischen Akademie der Wissenschaften konkret am Schlesischen Institut zu Troppau (Opava). Im Jahre 1987 verteidigte Sie Ihre Dissertationsarbeit. 1990 – 1995 arbeitete Sie als Hochschullehrerin/Hochschulassistentin an der Fakultät für Management der Schlesischen Universität in Karviná, 1995 u. a. an der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Technischen Universität VŠB-TU Ostrava. Ein Jahr später verteidigte Prof. Dr. Geršlová Ihre Habilitationsschrift zur Entwicklung der Industrie- und Unternehmenstätigkeit in den böhmischen Ländern bis 1938 an der Ökonomischen Univer sität Prag. Seit ihrem Ruf als Professorin für Wirtschaftswissenschaften 2004 arbeitet die renommierte Forscherin an der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der VŠB-TU Ostrava. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte beinhalten Themen zur Wirtschaftsgeschichte der böhmischen Länder im 19. und 20. Jh., europäische Dimensionen und Zusammenhänge, Unternehmensgeschichte und Unternehmenspersönlichkeiten im 19. und 20. Jh., umfassen aber auch die Sujets Unternehmensethik oder die Geschichte der Werbung. Zahlreiche Gastaufenthalte führten Prof. Dr. Geršlová u. a. an die Universitäten in Wien, Zürich, Berlin, Bonn, Köln/Rhein und Dresden.

Professor Jana Geršlová, CSc. was born in 1955. After competing a degree in history and German studies at the Philosophy Faculty at Palacký University, Olomouc in 1979, she worked until 1990 at the Czechoslovakian Academy of the Sciences, specifically at the Silesian Institute in Opava. In 1987, she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation. From 1990 to 1995, she worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant at the Silesian School of Business Administration in Karvína, and in 1995, at the Faculty of Economics at the VŠB – Ostrava University of Technology. One year later, Professor Geršlová defended her habilitation thesis, on the development of industrial and business activities on Bohemian territory up to 1938, at the University of Economics (VŠE), Prague. Since she was appointed Professor for Economics 2004, this renowned researcher has worked at the Faculty of Economics at the VŠB – Ostrava University of Technology. Her main research interests include themes related to the economic history of Bohemia in the 19th and 20th century, its European dimensions and connection, the history of business and important personalities in business of the 19th and 20th century, as well as business ethics and the history of advertising. Professor Geršlová has been visiting professor at numerous universities in other cities, including Vienna, Zurich, Berlin, Bonn, Cologne/Rhine and Dresden.
