Prof. Dr. Alexander Kemnitz

Prof. Dr. Alexander Kemnitz wurde 1968 in Basel/CH geboren, er ist Diplom-Volkswirt. Stationen seiner Ausbildung waren u. a. die Universität Bonn (ab 1987), die Universität Halle-Wittenberg (1993 – 1995) sowie die Universität Mannheim (Promotion zum Dr. rer. pol. 1999, Habilitation 2005). Die Forschungsschwerpunkte von Prof. Dr. Kemnitz liegen im Sujet der Ökonomie des Wohlfahrtsstaates (Arbeitslosenversicherung, Bildungswesen, Rentenversicherung), der Bevölkerungsökonomie (Migration, Demographischer Wandel, Familienökonomik), der Ökonomischen Theorie der Politik, im Bereich des Fiskalischen Föderalismus, der Wachstumstheorie, der Industrieökonomie sowie der Rundfunkökonomie. Seit 2006 ist er Professor für Wirtschaftspolitik und Wirtschaftsforschung an der TU Dresden, seit 2008 Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Rates des Zentrums für Internationale Studien an der TU Dresden.

Prof Dr Alexander Kemnitz was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1968 and is an economist by trade (he has a Diplom-Volkswirt degree in economics). Various stages of his academic career were spent at the University of Bonn (from 1987), the Universität University of Halle-Wittenberg (1993 – 1995) and the University of Mannheim (awarded doctorate – Dr. rer. pol. – in 1999, and habilitation in 2005). Professor Kemnitz’s main research interests are: the economics of the welfare state (unemployment insurance, education, pensions insurance); population economics (migration, demographic change, family economics); the economic theory of politics; the field of fiscal federalism; growth theory; industrial economics; and broadcasting economics. He has been Professor of Economic Policy and Economic Research at the Dresden University of Technology since 2006, and a member of the Academic Council of the School of International Studies at the Dresden University of Technology since 2008.
